A Love Letter,

From the desk of Marsha Amanova

May 2022

Hello! How was your May? I've enjoyed mine. Spring has sprung and love is in the air... or is that just pollen? 🌷🌱🐝
I always get nice comments when I share photos in the love letter, but it takes extra effort to import them to this email, so I'm trying something new this month. This button should take you to a shared album where you can scroll through some of my favourite photos from May. Depending on the screen you're using to view it might look a bit different. I recommend clicking on the first image and then scrolling through.
Let me know if this works for you!
We're still enjoying incredible sunsets, and we had a couple of weekend guests in the Airbnb this month. There's also a lot of work going on in and around the property. New windows are being installed, the back deck has been completely re-done and we now have stairs leading right down to the beach from our backyard. We already love living here, and it just keeps getting better!

The enormous ship, Argentia Desgagnes, AKA "The Salt Boat" returned this month. It's so cool to watch it pull into the harbour right outside our house. And then it does a full 180° turn in the harbour before the conveyor belts start loading it up with salt from the salt mine in town. People come out just to watch it arrive and leave. I captured a pretty sweet video of the first arrival of the season.
Two +1 (our band with my dad, Murray, in case you missed last month's letter) has another gig booked at the mall for June 25, so we've been learning some new songs and getting in plenty of practice.

Dad has also been sharing his knowledge with us. We went clamming not far from my parents' place and learned to find, dig, shuck, clean and can bar clams. It's quite a bit of work, but they are sooo good - we're still enjoying last year's batch and want to make sure we have plenty for this year.

We also went fishing not too far away for white perch: small but tasty. Aldon caught his first fish, ever! And then we learned how to clean them - we're not that good at it, but now we technically know how. This past weekend we enjoyed the fruits of our labour with a fish and clam fry out on the deck - delicious!

We are enjoying the Edmonton Oilers playoff run this year. I don't watch much hockey anymore, but made an attempt to watch as much of the Battle of Alberta as I could. The problem? 8pm games in Mountain Time start at 11pm out here and I just cannot stay awake that late! The next round is going to be on a couple of hours earlier, so if it's any good I'll try to stay up and watch/cheer with Aldon 🧡💙
Aldon and I celebrated 8 years of love on May 21. We went out for a nice dinner at Inn the Elms, probably the best restaurant in the village. Nice people, cute dining room, only a few blocks away and excellent food. It was lovely.
