Spring Equinox, March 20 2025

Hello! It's been ages, but I'm still here. First and foremost: I hope you are well. Times are tough right now, and it's heavy out there, but I keep reminding myself (and others) that there are also still so many good things. I'm committed to remembering to find the joy, the sparkle, the interesting, the fun, the lovely things. They are everywhere if you look, if you really pay attention. This is my antidote to depression.
I've been hibernating (RESTING), and with the change in seasons I feel like I'm ready to wake up and start something new. Plant some seeds and tend to them, see what comes up. I like the idea of spring as the beginning of a new year, much better than January. It makes extra sense to me celebrating my birthday as well (I am 51 now)!
This winter I was already itching to do something, to start something small, work on building a new habit. I'm pretty much completely off of the social media sites, but I'm not opposed to connection or to sharing online, I just don't like the status quo and I want to do it my way. So, right around Christmas I spiffed up my website, started a new blog and have committed to post something every day. I've kept the barrier to entry very low - it might just be a photo, a line of text, as long as it's daily.
And it's working! I'm feeling better and more gratitude. I'm noticing more. Paying more attention to my life.
So, that's where I'm at, and I'm ready to share! If you're interested, you can follow along on my website (stop by anytime) or wait until the next newsletter for me to share some highlights. My plan is to follow the sun and send a letter at the start of each season. And, of course you're always welcome to reach out via your preferred method of communication.

Here's to spring, new beginnings and enjoying all of the little things that make life worth living!

- Our family meme this past Christmas: RING IT!
- Little rituals: I lit a candle at sunset every day in February.
- Paying attention to the bigger picture: sun and moon cycles.
- Mom and dad are on holiday in Portugal and we are staying at their place this month taking care of the dog and chickens. It's a great way to shake things up!
- Books, books, books. Pages before screens.
- Still playing music. I set music to my friend's lyrics!
- When I get sad/angry/frustrated by the current state of the world, rise of fascism etc. I check in with the list from On Tyranny.
- Stay small, stay home. We've had friends over for board games a number of times this winter. 4 people is perfect. There will be 6 of us this weekend and that's my max for socializing these days!

I was craving a change and it was long enough to donate, so I braided it and hacked it off!
